ALPENA — On Tuesday, the Alpena Lions were brought up to date on the plans for a new state-of-the-art history exhibit at the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan.

In 1971, the Besser Museum rolled out the current exhibit which has served Northeast Michigan for the past 51 years.

The newly planned “Discover Northeast Michigan History Exhibit” is scheduled for completion in 2024. This year, visitors to the Besser Museum will be able to see the project progress phase by phase.

Currently, the gallery is being dismantled and a complete exhibit design is being put together as a part of Phase 1.

Construction of the gallery build-out will begin this month.

“Once completed, the new Discover Northeast Michigan History Exhibit will showcase the best of Northeast Michigan, displaying an accurate historical interpretation conveyed through modern technology, hands-on components, and immersive displays,” said Besser Museum Executive Director Chris Witulski.

All in all, it will be an exciting time for the Besser Museum and the citizens of Northeast Michigan.

Support the progress at the Besser Museum by continuing to visit in this time of change. Your physical presence and financial support during this process will assist the Besser Museum during this transitional period.
